PhD Supervision

I am interested in supervising qualitative research related to:

  • third sector service delivery agencies, in particular the relationship between third sector agencies and government;
  • rights-based approaches to social policy; and
  • social exclusion.

Current projects

Work on intermediate labour markets and third sector service delivery agencies continues through an ARC Linkage Project which will test claims about the advantages of a model of service provision that relies primarily on trust, rather than competition and control to achieve desired outcomes.  The project will also provide an independent review of two key elements in the new generation of employment services.

I am also involved in another ARC Linkage project which aims to develop a framework that can be used to analyse community strengthening and social inclusion policies from a child-centred perspective.

    This book looks at how policy decisions are made in the increasingly globalized policy environment facing national governments today. Eight case studies explore the factors driving policy outcomes in four different policy sectors in Australia and Japan: that is, the financial sector, telecommunications, local government and aged care.
