The project aims to improve the understanding of human systems’ responses to large-scale environmental change, of options for adapting economic systems to future climate change (including possible abrupt changes), and of the role of economic policy in adaptation. Research methods include analysis of historical data, qualitative and experimental policy analysis, and economic modelling. The project will focus on Australia’s future challenges, yet will take into account lessons learnt in other countries, and explore economic adaptation issues in neighbouring countries (especially Indonesia).

The project also has one or two top-up PhD scholarships on research, within the same areas as the academic researcher.  These are available for students who have already found a scholarship such as an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) for their main support.  Details are available here.
