In April 2005, Rio Tinto and the ANU created a partnership to deepen their understanding of long-term developments in China.
The Rio Tinto–ANU China Partnership is a model of cooperation between industry and university in the development of Australia’s intellectual and business capacities on China. It will yield applied knowledge to fuel business, government and scholarly endeavours on China in Australia.
More broadly the partnership will increase understanding of Chinese social and economic issues, and strengthen research and teaching on the Chinese economy. In particular, it will encourage more Australian students to study the Chinese economy.
