Graduate Diploma in International and Development Economics

Duration: 1 year full time, 2 years part time
Minimum: 36 units

The Graduate Diploma in International and Development Economics is designed to provide students with a solid training in basic economic principles and techniques. There is a strong analytical and quantitative component and students should be capable of undertaking studies in mathematics and statistics at a fairly advanced level.

Program Director: Associate Professor Tom Kompas


Tom Kompas is Director of the International and Development Economics Program (IDEC) in The Crawford School of Economics and Government, Australian National University and Senior Research Economist at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE).

He received his PhD in economics from the University of Toronto and teaches Masters Microeconomics and Applied Economic Dynamics at ANU. He specialises in economic dynamics, agricultural economics, productivity, and natural resource and environmental economics. He is currently Editor of the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics.
