A TWO WEEK (TEN DAY) COURSE PROGRAMCourse AimsIn the modern workplace, human resource departments are faced with a variegated and diverse workforce. Human resource managers are now faced with the task of finding new ways to manage this diversity. This course will offer a general understanding of contemporary human resource issues. It will provide an insight into how senior human resource practitioners can play effective roles in multidisciplinary organizations in both the private and public sectors. Of Relevance toThis course is aimed at human resource personnel who are taking on senior roles and general managers who need to become better acquainted with current thinking in people management. It would also benefit individuals aspiring to careers in the field of human resources. Course OutlineThis course will consist of interactive lectures, seminars, case studies and a site visit. The topics covered will include understanding people and personality types, psychological testing procedures, performance management, managing diversity, generational issues in the workplace, understanding change processes, organizational culture and managing conflict. It will also cover the theory and practice of motivation and creative management. Participants will prepare and plan a personal project in a selected area, with the intention of implementing the project in their own workplace. Course ConvenorsAndrew O’Keeffe is a consultant with global management consulting firm Hewitt Associates. He has twenty-five years’ experience in human resources, having worked for leading telecommunications and computer companies. Andrew studied economics, industrial relations and psychology at the University of Sydney and is the author of the highly acclaimed book ‘The Boss’. The ConvenerBruce Hill is in an ANU Associate who has extensive experience in corporate management, HR and professional consulting. He spent almost twenty years with Alcan Aluminium Limited in an international role. During his time as managing director of Alcan’s Uruguay operations, he implemented company-wide cultural change based upon the personal and professional development of Alcan’s employees. Now based in Sydney, he runs management development programs throughout Australia and Asia. |
