Policy Development, Problem Solving & PlanningCourse Available by Arrangement Only. Group Discounts are available.
Course ObjectivesThe course aims to put policy development in a more strategic framework and use communications skills to avoid many of the pitfalls that snare ideas before they become realities. Who Should AttendThis course is very useful to people who have recently taken up public sector management positions. It is also important for lawyers & consultants involved in aspects of policy development either on staff or in a service capacity. The course is also very useful to non-profit organisations because it offers an insight into how government moves through problems to policy & legislation. Understanding the process (and the restraints) will help peak bodies work cooperatively with government and develop policy positions. Learning OutcomesParticipants will be able to identify at which stage they have entered the policy development cycle and be better prepared to influence or manage the process successfully. Course ContentWhether you are a government body or a non-profit/peak organisation representing members, - it is a long way from a good idea to policy or legislation. How do you get there? This course falls into the category of 'I wish someone had taught me this before I started'. While at times, policy development can seem like a game of snakes and ladders; this is project management at its most enjoyable.
Course ConvenorJean Shannon has been a corporate communications specialist for over 30 and has delivered training to CEOs and middle managers, lawyers and customer service officers in Australia & Asia.
